An Asymmetric Oasis of Bespoke Design in Ivanhoe

The client's initial desire was to create a custom-tailored, uniquely shaped pool that would harmonise with the challenging triangular layout of their property. The goal was to construct a "lagoon style" pool that connected to the natural aesthetic of the home and featured a compelling water element that could be admired from the living area. Liquid Blue surpassed expectations by executing an exquisite, asymmetric pool that serves as both a functional aquatic space and a sculptural work of art. The design effortlessly converted an otherwise unused space into a striking outdoor centerpiece.

The pool is fully tiled with 'Lagoon Style' ceramic mosaic tiles, and its zig-zag shape perfectly follows the contours of the block, adding depth and dimension. An infinity/wet edge design with an added spillover enhances the pool's visual appeal, creating an artful, flowing transition from the home to the outdoor entertaining area. Contributing to the aesthetic is a concrete feature wall, achieved with textured formwork, which provides a compelling contrast to the dominant ceramic pool tiles and warm grey coping. To create visual intrigue viewable from the home's interior, a hidden telescopic pop-up water feature was integrated.

The primary design and construction challenge was the unconventional shape of the pool itself, which required a groundbreaking design to fit the unique triangular block. Our solution was to meticulously craft a bespoke design that not only conformed to the challenging layout but also elevated it with contrasting materials and strategic lighting to highlight its unique geometry at night.

The operational technology features Pentair energy efficient pool equipment and integrated automation, offering hassle-free control over heating, spa jets (for the integrated spa), and the water feature. Further simplifying maintenance is Paramount world’s leading in-floor cleaning system. The system utilises mineral sanitation, which is skin friendly and ensures both pristine water quality and a captivating nighttime atmosphere with Spa Electric LED lights.

This Ivanhoe project is a testament to Liquid Blue’s ability to take on intricate design challenges and convert them into an exquisite reality. The resulting pool and integrated spa and water feature create an outdoor area with a free-flowing transition from the home, fulfilling the client's request for a beautiful, functional, and completely unique pool that feels both custom-tailored and timeless.
